Highly-commended for all users

MHF websites editor Jim Pollard's latest book has been highly-commended in the 2010 Medical Journalists' Association's Book Awards.

Book coverThe User's Guide to the Male Body was cited in the MJA's self-help category won by Dr David Delvin's Backache - both books are published by health specialists Sheldon Press.

Jim said: 'it's great  to have something that you've done recognised by your peers, especially as I'm not even a member of the MJA. Since the book's not medical or even technical and at just 120 pages makes good health as simple as possible, I'm hoping it's the writing, based on the interviews I've done for malehealth, that they liked.'

Other winners included Medic: saving lives – from Dunkirk to Afghanistan, by John Nichol and Tony Rennell, the novel Pharmakon by US author Dirk Wittenborn and Recovery in Mental Health: Reshaping Scientific and Clinical Responsibilities, by Michaela Amering and Margit Schmolke, translated from the German.
