What is ultrasound?

Ultrasound (or sonography) uses high frequency sound waves to scan the inner body. It is non-invasive and completely painless involving nothing more than a bit of gel on the skin.

Its most well-known use is to scan unborn foetuses but can also be used for male waterworks problems.

A similar technique is also used in physiotherapy for pain-relief.
