NHS Screening Programmes
It's not all women's breasts. The NHS runs a number of screening programmes that concern men.
Screening is for apparently healthy people, not just those with symptoms. It involves a simple test to see whether you have a particular disease that is common in people like you. If you're in the target group, talk to your GP or follow the links below. Current screening programmes in England include:
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Programme - a heart health programme for men aged 65.
- Bowel Cancer Screening - for men and women in their 60s.
- National Screening Programme for Diabetic Retinopathy - for people with diabetes over 12
Similar programmes are run in Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
