Obama promises health care for every American

Barack Obama has pledged a root and branch reform of the one of the worst health care systems in the world.

The president-elect of the USA has criticised a system that means 45 million people in the richest country on Earth have no health insurance and in which one dollar in every four spent goes on administration. He has hit out at the greed of drug company and insurance companies and promised the state will pick up the tab for some of the most serious health conditions. He has promised a health care system for every American.
